3 Tips for Notion Beginners (From Someone Who Was Terrified)

You don't need to be a tech wizard to make Notion work for you. These three tips will get you started.

When I first opened Notion, I stared at a blank page for 20 minutes. Then I closed it and didn't open it again for months. It felt like a second job. But once I learned a few basics, it became my favorite tool. Here are three tips for beginners.

First, use a template. Seriously. Don't build from scratch. A good template does the heavy lifting—just duplicate and go. Second, embrace the toggle. You can hide details under a little arrow, keeping your page clean and only expanding what you need. Third, don't overcomplicate properties. You don't need 20 tags. Start with 'Status' and 'Date' and add more as you go.

Notion is forgiving. You can't break it. So play around, move things, delete them. The goal is progress, not perfection. And if you ever feel stuck, my shop is full of templates that make the learning curve a gentle slope.
