The One Notion Habit That Changed My Mornings

I stopped checking my phone first thing and started opening one simple dashboard. Here's what happened after 30 days.

For years, my mornings started with a scroll. Email, Instagram, a quick peek at my bank app — all before I'd even had water. By the time I sat down to work, I already felt behind. So I tried something different: I left my phone in the kitchen and opened my Notion dashboard instead.

My dashboard isn't fancy. It's one page with three sections: Today, This Week, and A Little Further Out. That's it. No complex databases, no tags, no filters. Just a place where I can see what actually matters before the world gets loud.

The first week felt awkward. I kept reaching for my phone out of habit. But by day ten, something shifted. I started my mornings with intention instead of reaction. I'd write down one thing I wanted to feel proud of by the end of the day, and then I'd close the laptop and go make coffee.

After 30 days, I noticed I was less anxious. Not because my to-do list got shorter, but because I wasn't starting every day in a state of catch-up. The habit isn't about productivity. It's about choosing your first thought. And for me, that thought is now: what matters most today?

If you want to try it, start with a single page. Don't build a system. Just open it tomorrow morning before you open anything else. See how it feels after a week.
