Behind the scenes: redesigning the Weekly Reset template

A look at what changed, what I removed, and the one customer email that pushed the whole redesign forward.

The Weekly Reset template has been my bestseller for over a year, and I almost didn't touch it. It worked. People liked it. But a customer named Hannah sent me a screenshot with a note that said: 'I love this, but I skip the review section every single week.'

That one sentence sent me back to the drawing board. If someone who paid for a template is skipping a whole section, the section is the problem — not the person. So I watched how I actually used the template during a chaotic work week, and I noticed I skipped the same part.

The old review had eleven prompts. Eleven. It read like a performance review from a job you're trying to leave. The new one has three: What worked? What drained me? What's one thing I'm carrying into next week? That's it. It takes four minutes.

I also moved the habit tracker below the fold, because putting it first made people feel behind before they'd even started their week. Small change, big emotional difference. The template should feel like a warm hello, not a report card.

The new version rolled out to everyone who'd already purchased it — no upgrade fee, no 'v2' upsell. If you bought it in 2023, check your inbox. You have the new one waiting.
