Inside the Rebuild: What Changed in the Home Dashboard v2

A behind-the-scenes look at the changes in the newest Home Dashboard — and why I removed more than I added.

The Home Dashboard has been my most-used template since I launched it, and also the one I've quietly hated for six months. Too many sections. Too many colors. It looked like a Pinterest board instead of a place to run a household.

So v2 is mostly subtraction. The meal planner now lives inside the weekly view instead of its own page, because nobody opens a separate page to plan dinner. The chore rotation got a simple two-column layout instead of the fancy kanban — kanban is great for work, terrible for 'whose turn is it to clean the bathroom.'

The grocery list finally syncs properly with the meal planner. That was the most-requested change and honestly the most embarrassing miss from v1. You plan the week, the ingredients populate the list, you check things off at the store. That's the whole loop.

The palette went from six colors to two: a warm oat and a soft clay. Fewer choices means faster scanning, and faster scanning means you actually use the thing.

If you already own v1, check your inbox — the update link is there. Your copy is untouched until you decide to switch. And if you're new: this is the version I wanted to ship the first time.
