How to Set Up Your Own Notion Dashboard in 20 Minutes

A step-by-step guide to building a simple dashboard that organizes your life without the overwhelm.

Let's be real: Notion can feel like a black hole if you don't have a plan. I've been there—clicking through endless templates, getting lost in nested pages, and ending up with more chaos than when I started. That's why I'm sharing my exact process for setting up a dashboard that actually works, in under 20 minutes.

Start with three columns: one for your week, one for your tasks, and one for your resources. In the week column, add a simple calendar view. In the tasks column, make a to-do list with checkboxes. In the resources column, drop links to your favorite sites, docs, and notes. That's it. The magic is in keeping it minimal.

Once you have the basics, add a few personal touches—maybe a quote that inspires you, or a photo of your goals. The point is to make it feel like yours, so you'll want to open it every day. I also recommend setting up a weekly review on Sunday to plan your week ahead. Five minutes of planning saves me hours of scrambling.

Don't fall into the trap of over-customizing. If a template takes more than 10 minutes to set up, it's probably too complicated. Start simple, and grow as you need. You can always add more later.

And if you'd rather skip the DIY, my Dashboard in a Day template is exactly what I use—ready to go, with all the links and databases pre-built. You just fill in your life.
