How to Set Up a Notion Home Hub in One Afternoon
A realistic, no-overwhelm plan for getting your household into one Notion page before dinner.
Most people try to build their Notion home hub in one heroic weekend, burn out on databases, and never open the page again. I want the opposite: a working page in about ninety minutes, imperfect and actually used.
Start with a single page and three sections — Today, This Week, and Someday. That's it. No databases yet. Write down whatever is currently living in your head, your notes app, and the back of a receipt. The goal is capture, not organization.
Once the page feels full, convert only the section that keeps growing into a database. For most people that's This Week, because tasks need due dates. Leave the rest as plain text. Not everything deserves a database, and pretending otherwise is how people quit.
Last step: put the page somewhere you'll see it. Pin it in your sidebar, set it as your browser homepage, or add the Notion widget to your phone. A beautiful system you never open is just decoration.
If you'd rather skip the building entirely, my Home HQ template is this exact structure, already set up. Duplicate it, delete what you don't need, and you're done.
