How to build a morning routine you'll actually stick to
Forget 5 a.m. wake-ups. Here's a flexible, low-pressure approach to mornings that works with your real life.
You don't need to become a 5 a.m. person to have a good morning. In fact, trying to force a rigid routine is usually why we quit after two days. Instead, start with what you already do — like hitting snooze or scrolling your phone — and build from there.
My favorite trick is to pick three tiny 'non-negotiable' habits: drink a glass of water, stretch for 30 seconds, and write down one thing you're looking forward to. That's it. You can do these in five minutes, even in the dark, and they set a positive tone without overwhelming you.
Once those feel automatic, add one more small thing — maybe a quick journal prompt or a ten-minute walk. The key is to attach your new habit to an existing one, like brushing your teeth, so it becomes part of your natural flow.
I've built this exact system into my Morning Reset template. It's a simple, beautiful dashboard that tracks your habits and gives you a gentle nudge — no shame, no guilt. Because mornings aren't about perfection; they're about showing up for yourself.
