How I Built a Calming Morning Routine with Notion
A simple 3-step Notion setup that helped me stop scrolling and start my day with intention.
I used to wake up and immediately grab my phone. Emails, social media, news — my brain was hijacked before my feet hit the floor. So I built a Notion dashboard that gently guides me through a calm, intentional morning.
First, I created a 'Morning Check-In' database with one simple checkbox: 'Did you drink water?' and a text field for a one-line intention. I set it as my homepage, so it's the first thing I see when I open Notion. No toggles, no complex views — just a clean list that takes 30 seconds to fill.
Next, I added a 'Today's Top 3' section. I use a linked database from my weekly planner. Seeing just three priorities prevents overwhelm and helps me focus. I even color-code them: green for work, pink for personal, blue for health.
Finally, I embedded a small gratitude log. It's just a simple table with one column: 'One thing I'm grateful for.' I write one sentence every morning. That tiny habit shifted my mindset more than any app ever did.
This template is now part of my Morning Bundle in the shop. But you can build your own in 10 minutes. The key is keeping it frictionless — no complicated formulas, just a safe space to start your day. Your morning deserves a soft landing.
