Behind the scenes: rebuilding the Home Hub from scratch
A look at what changed in version 2 of the Home Hub — and why I deleted half of it.
The Home Hub was the first template I ever sold, and for a long time I was scared to touch it. People loved it. It worked. Why risk it?
But in my own workspace, I'd quietly stopped using three of its sections. The cleaning rotation was too rigid. The meal planner assumed I cooked seven nights a week. The 'home projects' database had eleven fields and I filled in maybe two of them.
So I rebuilt it. The new version has a simpler weekly reset page, a flexible meal grid that works whether you cook or order in, and a projects list that asks one question: what's the next tiny step? I deleted the rest.
This is the part of template-making nobody talks about. The work isn't adding features. It's noticing what you avoid, and having the nerve to cut it. If you bought the original Home Hub, check your email — the update is in your library now, free as always.
