Behind the Scenes: How the Home Reset Template Came Together

A look at the messy first draft, the 40-person beta, and the one feature I almost cut that became everyone's favorite.

The Home Reset template started as a Google Doc titled 'Sunday stuff.' It was a list of 22 chores with no order and no time estimates. I used it for a month and felt worse every week.

The turning point was a beta group of 40 women who agreed to test a rough Notion version. I asked them one question: 'What makes you close the app?' The answers were consistent — too many checkboxes, no sense of progress, and guilt when they missed a day.

So I rebuilt it around a weekly rhythm instead of a daily one. You pick three focus areas, not 22 tasks. There's a 'reset' button that archives the week and starts fresh, no red overdue badges. That button was almost cut for being 'too simple.' It's now the most-mentioned feature in my inbox.

The final version has a 10-minute quick reset and a 30-minute deep reset. You choose based on your energy. That flexibility is why people actually keep using it — not because it's comprehensive, but because it meets you where you are.
