Behind the Scenes: Building the Cozy Finance Tracker
Why I created a finance template that feels more like a cozy journal than a spreadsheet.
I've always hated tracking money. Spreadsheets felt cold and judgmental. Budgeting apps were too rigid. So I decided to build a finance tracker that would make me actually look forward to checking my expenses.
I started with a simple question: what would feel cozy? For me, that meant soft cream backgrounds, rounded buttons, and a 'mood' property for each transaction. Yes, you can tag a purchase as 'guilty pleasure' or 'treat yourself'—because money isn't just numbers, it's feelings.
The result is a template that lets you see your spending in a warm, forgiving light. It includes a monthly overview with a progress bar (not a red alert), a savings goal tracker with little rewards, and a 'financial self-care' section where you can note what you're proud of. Building it reminded me that organization doesn't have to be sterile—it can be a hug.
